Perfect for my talented 12 year old

This book is exactly what I had been looking for to help my 12 year old daughter take her nail designs to the next level. I bought her this book, a set of brushes, and her first set of dotting tools for Christmas. She was THRILLED. She has been able to recreate designs from this book and is very proud of herself for doing so (as am I).

I have owned a dozen copies of "Brush up Your Shakespeare," and I keep them on hand to give to my literate friends. The book is very informative and humorous! Famous quotes are described and analyzed expertly within the broader context of the plays. An appendix lists over 2,000 words coined by Shakespeare. Another lists the numerous phrases from Shakespeare that have been used as titles of books, plays and movies, many of which are quite funny in their context.

A must for the high school English teacher. Filled with hundreds of quotes that are easy to find. I use it constantly when teaching Macbeth in 10th grade and Hamlet in 12th. And...I love it just for looking up what Shakespeares has to say on specific topics. So much of our language is made up of phrases that Shakespeare penned. Yipee!

This present text is not an attempt to give to the saints something new. The ordinances of baptism, laying on of hands, ordination, etc., are the same today as they have been through all generations since the beginning of time. Yet it is a fact, as every Latter-day Saint can say, that these principles which never change are in another sense always new. All who delight in the keeping of the commandments of the Lord are made to rejoice in every discussion of these principles. They never tire of hearing them. Yet old and familiar subjects may be dressed in new clothes; they need not always be presented in the self-same way; and it is always the application of Gospel truths in human lives which gives them their vital significance. It is hoped that the study and discussion of the principles here presented will inspire Latter-day Saints to be awake to their privileges and duties, to live more worthy lives, and to be more valiant in the service of God.   

This book has been prepared not only for study by genealogical workers, but for general use throughout the Church.

Her nursing career includes staff nurse in medical-surgical units, head nurse/nurse manager for medical-surgical units and critical-care units, administrative nursing supervisor, community nursing and administrative nursing supervisor in long-term care agencies. Her academic experiences include teaching theory and clinical in a Licensed Practical Nursing program, a Baccalaureate Degree Program and at present in an Associate Degree program. Publications include two manuscripts for Nursing Journal, Continuing Medical Education Resource and part of a chapter on the endocrine system in introduction to medical terminology published by Thomson: Delmar Learning. Article accepted by Nursing Spectrum for publication - August 2004. I bought this book for an pharmacology course for nursing school, so it was required for me to buy it. This book highlights tons case studies and it prepares you to think critically on how to take care of patients. The context was a bit dry, however, it was definitely useful.

Should be required reading for high schoolers

I have read a lot of self-help and relationship books, but this one really stands out.

I can't imagine anyone reading and applying the information in this book and NOT having a peaceful, loving, satisfying married life.

It is simple, but not easy, but Gary Chapman practices what he preaches (and sometimes fails, as he relates in his personal anecdotes).

Anyone can have a happy marriage, but both spouses need to agree on the rules, and this is a great guidebook.

Great advice for marriage

Every relationship needs a Christian tune-up and this book was it. It teaches what marriage is in the eyes of God, and helped my husband and I get over the hump. For a couple that needs to have a faith fill recharge twice a year, this was an enormous help. I plan on continueing to add to our library. Sometimes a couple just need to be able to look unselfishly at their lives and marriage using sound biblical teachings and advice.

If you have ever attended Gary's 4 part lecture series and wanted it in book form, here it is. This is his primary work that goes well beyond the 5 Love Languages (although he does briefly touch on those here). This is primary written for people who are already married. His book, "The Things I wish I Knew Before I Married" is probably better for those who are engaged.

Straightforward, All-Inclusive, Easy-To-Understand

As editor of OfSpirit.com Magazine, I've reviewed countless books on psychic development. There are three things I especially like about Psychic Navigator.

ONE, I enjoy the author's writing voice. Holland communicates with his readers like he is chatting with you on the phone. He's straightforward and precise. He doesn't try to write fancy and flowery. So I connected with the book because of the down-to-earth, unintimidating explanations.

TWO, the author teaches you "everything" you need to know to harness your inner-guidance. While it might be surprising to some, Psychic Navigator explains how our psychic strengths can be kicked into gear using specific breathing and meditation techniques. While I've never been that interested in practicing either, Holland inspired me to integrate both in my life. And by adding easy-to-understand chapters on auras, chakras, psychometry and energy scanning, I think every reader will finish reading with a more well-rounded comprehension of how our psychic abilities work and how to use this inborn gift (that we all have) in our lives.

And, finally, THREE, the CD that comes in the back of the book really puts it all together. It allows you to utilize what you've just been taught to really feel like Holland has given you a personal lesson--with his Dorchester, Massachusetts accent and all.

I highly recommend this book.

The CD Alone Is Worth The Price!

I have to start with this...I absolutely LOVED this book, but the CD is AMAZING! I admit, I am a bit of a collector when it comes to different meditation CDs and programs, but this CD is one of the best I own. The book is very well done, laid out beautifully and has a very pleasing usage of photography to accent what is being said. But the CD is what blew me away. For the last three months, since I got the CD, I have listened to one and on occasion both of the tracks every single day! The 20 minute one is the perfect length to start your day off beautifully - grounded and prepared to meet the world. John's sincerity just palpates through the audio, you can just feel how much he loves his work! The CD has not been removed from my little bedside CD player and every morning before I get out of bed I just pop on my headphones and start my day with John! I urge you to just click and buy this item. I cannot imagine you will be disappointed!

So You Want to Develop Your Sixth Sense?

Psychic Navigator - Harnessing Your Inner Guidance by John Holland is a lovely little book written by a man who had Sixth Sense from his early years but was afraid to talk about what he could sense or "see." As an adult he found a teacher who could help him learn to develop his extrasensory perceptions and use them confidently to help other people. Now John helps people further by encouraging and teaching readers how to develop this latent ability which we all possess. With easy to follow instructions he teaches "the mechanics of psychic awareness, the benefits of meditation, the vital power of breath, and the workings and functions of your chakras and aura." By practicing each of the lessons in this little book, you can learn quickly and easily to trust the "feelings" we all have experienced and to develop your ability to enhance your own perceptions. An excellent and easy to follow guide, which will greatly enhance your spiritual experiences no matter what Faith you proclaim. The book comes with a guided meditation CD which includes "Healing Relaxation for Body and Mind" and "Raising the Power," a guide for learning to open and close your psychic receptors and raise your energy." It is fascinating to experience the new levels of awareness and to incorporate them into your life with practice.

A classic text still relevant today.

I recall having this book assigned when I was an architectural student in the 1980s. I found it invaluable then. I still use it for reference today, some thirty years later. The book was among the first to compile in one comprehensive summary that buildings can be designed to take advantage of natural climate. It has detailed explanation of over 100 climate design practices that can be applied to homes and small scale buildings. The bibliography lists references for building science and climatology dating back to the early 1900s, and thus is invaluable for research. Architects, builders, and anyone interested in energy efficient building design will find this a still useful reference.

Rich content, great graphics, easy to understand.

Very interesting as it not only deals with both cooling and heating, but also passive assistance for active mechanical systems. The way the book is organized is also very easy to use. Don't let the price fool you. This book is worth every cent and has very rich content. Great graphics, too.
